Relief de France, Les Monastères
The Cistercian Order is a monastic order founded in 1098 at the Abbey of Cîteaux (France), by Robert de Molesme, and constituting a reformed branch of the Benedictines.
Today, the Cistercian Order is itself mainly composed of two Orders: the Order of the Commune Observance and the Cistercian Order of the Strict Observance (also called Trappists and Trappistines, because resulting from the reform of the abbey of Trappe).
« Relief de France, Les Monastères » is a series of documentaries made in monasteries, for more than 35 years, by the association Ciné Art Loisir.
All these cinematographic documents were constructed in close collaboration with the superiors of each monastery, in keeping with the distinctive note of each Order.
