The Carmelite Order is an order of contemplative religious (called Carmelites, for men and Carmelites, for women). Their founding fathers are the prophets Elijah and Elisha who resided as hermits in a cave on Mount Carmel (Palestine).
Among the great figures of this multisecular Order are St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross (Spain) and St. Teresa of the Child Jesus (Lisieux, France).
« Relief de France, Les Monastères » is a series of documentaries made in monasteries, for more than 35 years, by the association Ciné Art Loisir.
All these cinematographic documents were constructed in close collaboration with the superiors of each monastery, in keeping with the distinctive note of each Order.
